
Hynes Wins Gold at NCAA Diving Zone A Regional Championships

Piscataway, N.J. – After making school history by qualifying for the Division I NCAA Championships on day one of the NCAA Diving Zone A Regional Championships, Kate Hynes returned to the boards to win the 3-meter dive. Hynes is now qualified to compete in both the 1-and 3-meter dives at the NCAA Championships.
Hynes became the first diver in Drexel history to win an NCAA Diving Zone Regional title by scoring the highest point total in the 1-meter dive on Saturday afternoon. Hynes' score of 527.60 put her ahead of Harvard's Samantha Papadakis (514.70) and Kimberlee Peifer of Penn State (509.75) who rounded out the top-three places. Hynes finished fourth in the preliminary round behind both Papadakis and Peifer who finished first and second, respectively, in preliminary competition.
Senior Brett Molash garnered a 12th-place finish in the men's 3-meter final by scoring 584.90 points. Molash improved from his performance in the preliminary round where he placed 18th with a score of 260.30. Sophomore Jake Roberson earned a 20th-place finish in the preliminary round of the 3-meter springboard. Roberson tallied 250.20 points and just missed qualifying for finals by two places.
Hynes will return to the boards at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, March 8-10, held at the University of Minnesota.
